What is the cloud? Where is the cloud? These are all questions you’ve probably heard or even asked yourself. The term “cloud computing”

is everywhere.

Cloud computing is the latest major evolution in computing. Although cloud solutions have been around since the birth of long distance

data communications and the internet, they have only become easy to use and popular in recent years.

In the simplest terms, cloud computing means storing and accessing data and programs over the Internet, while in the past, you would run software programs installed on a physical machine or server in the building.

The cloud is essentially just a metaphor for using hosted services over the internet. The term goes back to the days of flowcharts and presentations that would represent the infrastructure of the Internet as nothing but a puffy, white cumulus cloud.

When you update your Facebook status, you’re using the cloud. Checking your bank balance on your phone? You’re in the cloud again. Most of us rely on cloud computing everyday, whether you’re firing off emails on the move or using google maps you’re using the cloud.
